OUR STORY
Oceanview Fun Park was born from a simple dream in 1986 when Gold Coast locals James and Margaret Thornton purchased a small stretch of unused beachfront property. With their background in engineering and hospitality, the couple envisioned creating a space where families could enjoy thrilling entertainment while taking in the breathtaking coastal views that make the Gold Coast famous.
What began as a modest collection of five carnival rides and a small arcade quickly captured the hearts of both locals and tourists. By the early 1990s, the park had expanded to include its first major roller coaster, "The Wave Runner," which became an instant icon visible from kilometers away along the coastline.
Through the 2000s, under the leadership of the Thorntons' daughter Eliza, Oceanview embraced technological innovation, introducing interactive attractions and expanding to the 15-acre entertainment complex we know today. Despite economic challenges and several devastating cyclones that tested our resilience, Oceanview has continued to evolve while maintaining the family-friendly atmosphere that has made it a Gold Coast institution for over four decades.
In 2018, we completed our largest expansion to date with the opening of our award-winning "Coastal Boardwalk" section, combining nostalgic seaside amusements with cutting-edge attractions. Today, as we approach our 40th anniversary, Oceanview Fun Park remains an independently owned cornerstone of Queensland tourism, welcoming over 800,000 visitors annually from across Australia and around the world.

Eliza Thornton
Chief Executive Officer
Daughter of the park's founders, Eliza has led Oceanview since 2002. With a background in both theme park operations and business management, she has spearheaded the park's expansion while maintaining its family-owned character and community focus.
Under her leadership, Oceanview has won multiple tourism excellence awards and significantly increased its international visitor numbers.
Marcus Chen
Technical Director
With over 15 years of experience in theme park engineering, Marcus oversees all technical aspects of our attractions. His innovative approach to ride design and commitment to safety has made Oceanview a leader in ride technology.
Marcus holds multiple patents for ride safety systems and leads our annual STEM education program for local schools.
Jasmine Patel
Events & Entertainment Manager
Jasmine is the creative force behind our seasonal festivals and daily entertainment. Her background in performing arts and event production brings fresh, immersive experiences to the park throughout the year.
Since joining Oceanview in 2018, Jasmine has developed our signature Summer Splash Festival and Halloween Spooktacular into must-attend Gold Coast events.
Cooper Wilson
Guest Experience Director
A Gold Coast native with deep roots in hospitality, Cooper ensures that every aspect of the visitor experience exceeds expectations. He oversees our customer service training, accessibility initiatives, and visitor feedback programs.
Cooper's implementation of our "Every Guest Matters" philosophy has significantly improved our visitor satisfaction ratings and return visit numbers.
